As the summer comes on we have a variety of caterpillars climbing around on the trees, blueberry bushes and other plants.

With the long cold, wet spring the blueberries were delayed until mid June. The bushes had more berries than we expected after the late snow and freeze while they were in full bloom.

The ripening berries did not go unnoticed by the local wildlife. After several days going to bed with lots of ripe berries and walking up with very few and pickers on the way we discovered we had a large group of raccoons visiting the patch every night. They were not just eating lots of berries but they were breaking off thousands of green clusters of berries and breaking limbs. Here are some pictures of the damage to blueberry bushes when the raccoons invaded.

We had some stormy weather with unusual clouds.

Troy has still been working on an accident in his old district up in Hannibal from time to time. He got special permission to travel there for a milestone piece of those activities.

Sparkle likes to get comfortable in the diasylate boxes when we leave them out too long. He ususally moves when we start to take a picture but we managed to get this one before he realized we were taking it.

Our purple cone flowers were very pretty this season. The bees enjoyed their nectar too.

We tried scaring away the raccoons at night but that didn't deter them enough so we had to end blueberry picking for the season.
