Bee Removal from Condo September 2011

There was a large colony of honeybees in a condo that Troy removed.

Here is where the bees were getting into the building - caulking missing from only one side. They had begun making a small hole at the edge of the ceiling and bees were getting into the living area.

The first cut the maintenance man made brought out a wave of angry bees and the adjacent picture is after a second piece of drywall was removed and Troy have vacuumed up some bees.

Finally we found one edge of the nest and eventually we found another edge. This is the largest hive Troy has removed from a building.

This is how big the hole in the ceiling ended up being. There were a lot of bees and comb. Troy filled up 5 5 - gallon buckets with comb. You can see him holding some comb with brood and honey.

This removal was more complicated because the bees had built comb into the floor truss and between adjacent trusses.
