Camp Pictures November 2009
Here are a few of the pictures of the Boy Scout camp we visited.
In this picture Troy is showing Abigail and Elizabeth how he used to pick up crinoid fossils when he was a boy. The fossils weather out of the limestone rocks and are lying in the dirt under the edges of the rocks. Native Americans used to collect these and make jewelry out of them.
This is a picture of Truman Lake from the mouth of a cave that Troy used to play in when he was a boy.
This is a picture of the lakefront area at the camp where Troy grew up. He and his family spent many hours down here at the lake fishing and enjoying the water. The rock projection a short distance into the water was called the "spit". It was the home of many bluegill and other fish that Troy and his family enjoyed catching. Some evenings they would have a fire on the spit and fish far into the night.
The up and down cave. It used to have a metal utility pole in it for access.
This was one of Troy's favorite places to spend time.
Here is another cave. The girls really wanted to climb in this cave. It was pretty muddy so they did not get to crawl in very far.
It was muddy. This is one of the tightest caves that Troy was in as a boy.
Troy and his siblings played many days in this creek. The girls liked the little waterfall.
Here is daddy with the girls at the creek.
We saw this raccoon. It was not acting right and we stayed some distance from it.
We hiked up and down some of the hills. Here are some of the crew taking a break part way up one hill.
Crossing the slippery creek make the hike a little bit more interesting.
On our way home we stopped at TacoBell to eat. There was what appeared to be an electrical fire in the wall. Here are the fire fighters trying to figure out if the fire is out.
