North Pole Alaska 2012

As you get off the highway at North Pole, AK you notice that the light poles are unusual. Then when you pull in the lot for the Santa Clause House you will notice some of the creativity even for the disabled parking.

The sceens continue around the exterior of the facility. Now some of you are wondering why there is a picture of an exit sign. Troy being the safety geek noticed that the small black sign on the marked "exit" says "No Exit". The art work continues around the outside to where the reindeer pen is located. Here is Gayla at the pen and we told her to not give any of the fudge to the reindeer....

Apparently, when it is too cold to be outside the folks in North Pole, AK have a lot of time to think about things to make. You can see how big the Santa is above the sled.

It turns out that the first day they stopped by Santa was not in so they took some pictures and did some touristy type things. While waiting around in the parking lot a tourist mistook Troy for their bus driver...

They went back the next day so that Gayla could get her picture taken with Santa. As Gayla hops up on Santa's lap she says, "Santa, I want you to bring me a man in my stocking this year." Santa replied, "I have already sent you a couple of men and you have run them off!" Gayla responded, "I won't run this one off - I promise!" All the time Troy trying to take some good pictures. As it turned out Troy was not so good with the camera and they had to go back again. They went back a couple of days later and Roger and Roger just stay in the vehicle so Gayla and Troy go in to take the pictures. Santa is in so they march right up to Santa. As Santa begins his little welcome speech he stops midstream to ask if they have been there before. At that point Gayla explains the situation of how we needed to get some better pictures. Troy begins snapping pictures as fast as the camera will take them and he is horsing around a little acting like a famous photographer which makes both Santa and Gayla laugh. At last they had picture success!
